In the morning of June 23, 2015, in the auditorium of the Ministry of Water Resources and Meteorology (Kbal Tnal), H.E Lim Kean Hor, Minister of Water Resources and Meteorology, led the meeting to introduce and instruct work with leaders from 3 institutions under the Ministry including leaders from the Ministry of Water Resources and Meteorology, Tonle Sap Authority and Cambodian National Mekong Committee. Participants started from Provincial Department Directors from 25 provinces to Departments to Secretary General, Deputy Secretary Generals, General Directors, Under Secretaries of State and Secretary of States. The meeting was intended (1) as the working meeting of the institutions, (2) to introduce the report on the progress of the current social situation, and (3) to introduce the principles, to change inactivity and to identify further directions.
Excellency Minister said that in order to effectively implement the policy of the government for the Ministry of Water Resources and Meteorology: (1) - leaders as well as officials at all levels must continue the internal work solidarity to maintain harmony in the unit and be responsible according to roles and duties; (2)- all work has to be implemented thoroughly and all mistakes have to be abolished as much as possible and then to no mistakes at all; (3)- to implement the job as fast and highly effective as possible and avoid all the weaknesses; (4)- to pay attention and prepare for the issue of climate change (might be floods this year); and (5)- to strengthen and further expand knowledge, especially to train the next generation of young people to increase the capacity for the officials.
Excellency Minister also emphasized the need to encompass the work clearly and to avoid causing the issues of land, forest, flooded forest and business on natural resources, and also to have preventive measures as the contributions with the government, and he also principally showed all the leaders, especially technical officials (1) to have correct specific measures and administrative procedures and be carefully caution on reservoirs, lakes, and canals in the inventory list of the Ministry of Water Resources and Meteorology, and (2) to implore the leaders of the three institutions not to be involved for the abolition of reservoirs, lakes, canal and flooded forest for individual ownership.
