On 27th to 28th of April 2015, Mss. Prak Chanvatana, Chief Office of the Office of Agricultural Diversity of Tonle Sap Authority, attended a National Workshop on the Sharing of Knowledge Related to Mainstreaming Gender in Integrated Water Resources Management (IWRM) under the framework of the Mekong River Commission (MRC), organized by Cambodian National Mekong Committee (CNMC) under the auspices of Mr. Ann Pech Hatha, Deputy Secretary General of CNMC with the participation from officials in charge of gender from relevant ministries and institutions and CNMC in total of 30 people. The seminar was organized in order to:
1. Presents the results of implementation of gender activities in the Integrated Capacity Building Programs of CNMC from 2011-2015;
2. Provide a forum to share knowledge, lessons and experiences gained from work on gender mainstreaming in IWRM with relevant sectors; and
3. Understand and collect comments from the participants about gender mainstreaming in each institution.
With the cooperation from the Provincial Department of Water Resources and Meteorology, Kompong Thom Province, all participants made a study visit in order to understand about the community that uses water from Steung Chinet basin irrigation system, water consumption and related mechanisms on gender mainstreaming in the IWRM field.
