Research Activities on Botany in Mangrove in Siem Reap Province

On March 24th to 27th, 2015, the working group of the Department of Natural Resources of Tonle Sap Authority, led by Mr. Pon Vuthy, Chief Office of Biodiversity, made a field study on the botany of the mangrove located in Laveng Rersey Commune and Spean Tnaout Commune, Chikreng District, Siem Reap Provice. During this field study, the team noted the names and number of plants, studied the derived soil from mangrove and the possibility of reforestation after logging, monitored the types of forest within 10 meters radius, and took the tree samples of the mangrove for experimentation. The study will be furthered implemented in the provinces adjacent to Tonle Sap Lake in order for us to understand about the differences of the types of mangroves in each region and to compile books for further research.
