H.E Meas Oeun Attends the facilitator of Second Communal Training Course on Climate Change and Adaptation Planning

From 21st to 23rd January 2015 in Pursat Province, as a training Facilitator, H.E Meas Oeun, Advisor to Tonlesap Authority, attended the Second Communal Training Course on Climate Change and Adaptation Planning, organized by Cambodia Development and Research Institute (CDRI) under the auspices of H.E Keo Sen, Deputy Governor of Pursat Province with participants from relevant sub-national institutions, such as village officials, communal/Sangkat community Council, members of the Farmer Community on Water Consumption of Pursat and Kampong Thom Province, in total of 80 participants. The training course aims to increase knowledge on the effects of climate change and to understand means to adapt to climate change at local and provincial level. As a result, participants will get:
-    key discoveries of the vulnerability and adaptation;
-    key discoveries of water resources governance;
-    Method of preparing adaptation and evaluation plan on the vulnerability to climate change;
-    Knowledge regarding risk analysis, opportunity, monitoring the resistance of the existing system (communities and ecosystems), and the adaption capacity to climate change;
-    Access to information on adaptation measures and resilience as well as vulnerability to climate change;
-    Experiences on local tour study, Damnak Ompil irrigation dam in Damnak Ompil Village, Rolok Sar Commune, Pursat City and Kompang Community in Svay Dounkeo Commune, Bakan District, Pursat Province;  and
-    Knowledge on how to make the plan on adaptation to climate change at the local level.
The knowledge, lessons and experiences the participants got will contribute the development of villages and communities relevant to climate change and to reduce the risk that would happen accidentally. [Unofficial Translation]
