Activities of the Technical Working Group Conducting a Research Study on Fish Movement from Tonle Sap Lake to Its Tributaries

​During a period of 3 days from 29th to 31rd December 2014, the Technical Working Group of the Tonle Sap Authority, led by Mr. Vin Bunpuv, Deputy Director in charge of the Department of Natural Resources, conducted a research study in Kandal Province and Phnom Penh on fish movement from Tonle Sap Lake to Tonle Sap Lake tributaries in Kandal province and Phnom Penh between the wet season and dry season. This research study is to monitor the evolution of each fish species; to study their growth regarding their species, quantity, length, and weight; to take fish samples for experimentation; and to study the movement of each fish species from vital areas of Tonle Sap Lake toward Mekong River by measuring water depth and currents depending on the identified location. In addition, the Working Group also learnt about the general situation of the fishermen living along Tonle Sap Lake during the receding season and the fishing season. Regarding the next direction, the Working Group will continue the research study in the identified location in this areas and the related areas. [Unofficial Translation]​
