Research Study on Evaluating the Floating Rice (Dry-Season Rice) in Zoon 1 and Zoon 2 at Banteay Meanchey Province

​From 15th to 18th December 2014, H.E Meas Oeun, Advisor to Tonlesap Authority, led a technical team to conduct a research study on evaluating the floating rice (dry-season rice) in order to compile information related to agricultural crops around Tonlesap Lake in Zoon 1 and Zoon 2 at Banteay Meanchey Province. This research aimed to study the type of rice seed, farming technique, insects, disease, market, production, transportation, farmer's social economy, land usage, fertilizer, pesticide, and challenges in farming, solution, water sources, and soil texture. In this research study, the working team met the village and commune/district authorities and interviewed farmers about floating rice farming (dry season) as well as to dig the soil in order to check soil texture, to describe soil profile and to collect soil sample for experiments.​
