Participation in the First National Consultation on Hydropower Dam Dorn Sahong Project
On November 12nd , 2014, Mr. Nom Sophearith, Chief of litigation Coordination Office, and Mr. Kvan Pheaktra, Chief of Mineral Resource Office of Tonlesap Authority, attended the First National Consultation on Hydro power Dam Dorn Sahong Project at Hotel Phnom Penh. This consultation meeting was organized by the Cambodia National Mekong Committee under the auspices of Mr. Bun Hean, Secretary of State of the Ministry of Water Resources and Meteorology, Permanent Vice chairmen of the Cambodia National Mekong Committee, with the participation from member ministries and institutions, NGOs, and development partners, in total of 56. Putting this project in the consultation meeting was to get comprehensive technical and scientific advices over the concern about the project from all the involved stakeholders for compiling a formal response to the Lao side. The meeting aimed to provide opportunities for stakeholders and public, who may had been affected or were interested, in order to raise their awareness about the proposal of Hydro power Dam Dorn Sahong, to process the consultation in advance and to comprehend concerns, views and recommendations from state institutions, civil society, and other stakeholders at the national level.
