A Research Study on Fish Habitats and Fish Resources in this Opening Fishing Season in Tonlesap Rregion

​From 27th to 31st October 2014, a Technical working group of Tonlesap Authority, consisting of 5 teams and led by Excellency Professor Lim Puy and Sin Viseth, made a research study on fish habitats and fish resources in this opening fishing season in Tonle Sap region in the following 5 areas:
1.  Chhnouk Tru, Phat Sanday, Peam, Stung Sen and Kor Dop location;
2.  Kampong Loung, Koh Kha Ek, Peam Stung Pursat, and the conservation lot Kompong Prak;
3.  Peam Bang, Beung Tonle Chmar, Peam Stung Stoung, and Tonlesap lake;
4. Kampong Khlang, Kampong Plork, Tonlesap lake, and especially former fishing conservation areas; and
5. Chong Kneas, Peam Ta Our, Peak Kanteal, Prek Toal, Peam Stung Sangke and Stung Sangke
The research study focused on the following key areas:
o  Gather data on the amount of caught fish by each types of tool and each fish habitat;
o  Gather data on the abundance of each fish species based on fishermen and fish ports;
o Gather regulations in each study site by focusing on fish habitats, water depth, and water temperature; and
o  Compile the locations of fish modification places, fish price, fish baits, and the use of each type of fish.
