The Participation in The National Consultation Meeting on the Update Plan of River Basin and Evaluation of the Progress of the Implementation of the National Road Map

​Based on the coordination of Cambodia National Mekong Committee, on 8-9 September 2014 at the Ankor Parady Hotel, Siem Reap province, H.E Hel Tony, Secretary General, and H.E Khov Meas, Deputy Secretary General of Tonle Sap Authority, participated in The National Consultation Meeting on the Update Plan of River Basin and Evaluation of the Progress of the Implementation of the National Road Map, with the presence of H.E Te Navuth, Secretary General of Cambodia National Mekong Committee and with 38 representatives from line ministries and institutions. The main purposes of this meeting are: (1) To inform the meeting about the draft of the updated River Basin Strategic Development Plan 2016-2020 of Mekong River Commission and to discuss to find the convergence with Cambodian National Strategic Development Plan and  (2) To discuss about the progress of the implementation of the National Road Map.
H.E Te Navuth, Secretary General of Cambodia Mekong River Committee, said that the importance of the Mekong Basin Development Strategy, which had been ratified and launched since 2011 by country members, who providing action plans which are strategically prioritized for managing and developing the Mekong Basin with sustainability in order to achieve the objectives of the 1995 Mekong Agreement, National Economic Development Plan, and Rectangular Strategy Phase III of the Royal Government of Cambodia in the 5th mandate of the National Assembly election.
The meeting highly evaluated the results of the discussion to improve the draft of the updated Mekong Basin Development Strategic Plan and requested the participants to note and consider it based on their professional sectors to update the National Road Map in the future, which is an important contribution to the development of the progression of Mekong basin development in 2016-2020.
