Activities of a Research Study to Understand about Law implementations and Local Litigation Related to Natural resources Management and Tonlesap Environment

 The working group of the technical officials of the General Secretariat of Tonlesap Authority, led by Mr. NOM Sophearith, chief of bureau of Litigation Condition Office of the Department of Jurisdiction and Publicity, conducted a research study to comprehend law implementations and local litigations related to natural resources management and Tonlesap environment in Battambang and Pursat province from 4th to 7th August 2014,. The purpose of this research study is to solicit the information on the level of understanding of the local people, fishery communities, NGOs and the others pertaining to law implementations and litigation resolutions related to natural resources management and Tonlesap environment. The interviews were done with the commune councils, Fishery Committee and fishermen in the Roha Soung and Prektrop fishery communities in Preknorin Commune, Ek Phnom District, Battombang Province. As result shown that there has lack of law enforcement and in effective and limited of the law broadcasting. Furthermore, the conflict resolution in natural resources used and management have been based on traditional norm-outside of court system.
