On March 21, 2025, His Excellency Sar Kimsan, Secretary-General of the Tonle Sap Authority and Head of the Battambang Province Task Force, along with the leadership and technical officials of the Tonle Sap Authority, attended a meeting to discuss the implementation of field inspections, verification, updates, and compilation of land data in communes and districts related to the Tonle Sap region within the geographic area of Battambang Province. The meeting was led by His Excellency So Khornrithykun, Secretary of State of the Ministry of Land Management, Urban Planning, and Construction, and Head of the Battambang Province Executive Working Group.

The objectives of the meeting were: To clarify the purpose of establishing working groups for inspection, verification, updates, and compilation of land data in the six provinces surrounding the Tonle Sap region.
To discuss the general situation, livelihoods of people in Zone 2 and Zone 3, and the challenges they face.
To introduce the questionnaire format for interviews with village authorities and communities, and to plan the timeline for inspections, verification, updates, and compilation of land data in the Tonle Sap region to consolidate reports for leadership.

The meeting reached the following consensus: Organize four working groups responsible for each district to conduct inspections, verification, updates, and compilation of land data in villages and communes within the districts related to the Tonle Sap region, including Mong Russey District, Sangke District, Ek Phnom District, and Thmor Kol District in the geographic area of Battambang Province.

It is noted that: Decision No. 014, dated February 20, 2025, on the establishment of working groups for inspection, verification, updates, and compilation of land data in the Tonle Sap region, aims to prepare conditions for land use for the conservation and development of the Tonle Sap region (Zone 2 and Zone 3). This is based on actual land use data in the current context, including geographic characteristics, demographics, livelihoods, land use patterns, infrastructure, and development activities at the village, commune, and district levels within the protected areas of the Tonle Sap region under the management of the Tonle Sap Authority. This covers the six provinces surrounding the Tonle Sap region, including Kampong Chhnang, Pursat, Battambang, Banteay Meanchey, Siem Reap, and Kampong Thom.
